Loaded the Cheby up with several thousan d pounds of 3/8 ground rock to festoon the backy ard parking area.

Kinja'd!!!

We loaded the bed about 70% full, it nearly spl it apart from rust but luckily no m ore then 3/4" at the seams. The rock was cheap at $25 for however much I dared put into a 42 year old.

Kinja'd!!!

She’s was none too pleased with the weight

Did 2 loads of 3/8" and a final load of 3/4", still deciding on what sort of car port to setup or if  I actually want one.

We loaded the bed about 70% full

It’s funny how this volume sounds like such a modest amount. But that shit is HE AVY.

A few years ago, I took my 3/4 ton truck to get a load of sand, and lol I didn’t even get close to 70% volume. F illing that longbed just a few inches deep was enough to bring it to its rated capacity.

i loaded my Sport Trac with ho rse hair plaster I stripped out of my old house. I got weighed at the dump and was shocked to find out I had about 1100 pounds in it. Luckily I only lived a few miles up the road, perfectly straight shot. The rest of the trips I left a little more room.

Having once hauled 2 tons of pea gravel in a 96 f250, I understand.

(As an aside, if that truck wasn’t a 5 speed, there’s no way it would have been able to stop... the 300 had no issue getting it going again, though)

Edit: PS if you do manage to bend out the bedsides from overloading it, a ratchet strap around the whole back will pull them back in, and if that goes too far a bottle jack and a 4x4 will take them back out so the tailgate can close again...

Luckily its more that the beds interior is splitting at the seams where the walls meet the floor. Brakes felt less then awesome here too, the backup if they failed was blow the transmission slowing it down then use the E brake
